Check Your Brand Name
Before You Commit
A brand name has at least three independent layers — the domain, the social handles you plan to use, and the naming quality itself. nameaha helps you assess the first two and compare alternatives. This page does not perform trademark searches, give legal clearance, or check official company-name registration.
Domain checks against the .com + .net registerability gate are always free. Manual checks of a name you already have do not use credits.
What this page helps you assess
Three independent layers of a brand name.
Domain availability
The registerability gate is .com + .net both available. nameaha also reports a documented set of optional signals (.ai, .io, .app, .co, .dev, .xyz, .tech, .cloud, .page, .shop, .studio, .so). It does not check every TLD and does not provide prices.
Check domain availability →Social handle consistency
nameaha does not perform live cross-platform username checks yet. Plan your handle list, then verify each platform directly — privacy settings, anti-automation controls, and platform policies can all limit what an automated check can see.
How to plan handles →Alternatives without starting over
When a key layer is taken, nameaha generates alternatives that preserve the original direction — tone, length, and brand intent — so you can compare without rebuilding your brief from scratch.

What to do, in this order.
-
01
Lock the spelling and 1–2 fallbacks
Pick the exact spelling you want and one or two reasonable alternates before you start checking. The fallbacks save you a re-run if the first choice is taken on a critical layer.
-
02
Check the gate domain extensions
For nameaha, that is .com + .net both available. Use the domain availability checker or the existing app flow.
- 03
-
04
Treat availability as a point-in-time signal
An "available" result is the state of the public DNS at the time of the check. Domains can be registered by anyone between the check and your registrar visit, and handles change continuously.
-
05
Run independent trademark and legal research
Domain and handle availability are not trademark clearance, legal permission, or company-name registration. Before you invest in the name, search the USPTO / WIPO databases and consult a professional if the stakes are material.
What availability does not tell you
Four limits worth stating clearly.
An available domain is not trademark clearance
A name that no one has registered as a domain can still be a registered trademark, a protected company name, or a famous mark. Use the USPTO trademark search and your local company registry for the legal layer.
Social handle checks are inherently uncertain
Platforms change availability rules, reserve names for inactive users, hide profile visibility, and block automated lookups. Any external "available" or "taken" claim is a snapshot, not a guarantee. Verify on the platform itself before you commit.
Domain availability is not a registration reservation
An "available" result means no public registration was found at the time of the check. It does not lock, hold, or reserve the domain. Anyone can register it through any registrar before you do.
nameaha does not store, log, or sell your checks
Manual domain checks are public endpoints and are not private or anonymous in any unusual way — refer to the privacy policy for the actual data flow.
If part of your identity is taken
Compare without rebuilding your brief.
If the .com is gone but the .net is free, or if your preferred handle is taken on one platform but not others, the right next step is to compare accepted variations — not to start from a blank page. nameaha's alternative flow generates 8–12 direction-aware candidates from your existing seed name.
A label of "available" on any specific alternative is only a check that has actually been run. If you have not run it through the existing app, do not assume it is open.
Frequently asked questions
Common questions, answered honestly.
What does a brand name checker check?
+
nameaha's brand name checker helps you assess the online identity of a name you already have: whether the .com and .net are available (the registerability gate), which optional signal TLDs are open, and what direction-preserving alternatives exist. It does not search trademark databases, give legal clearance, or check official company-name registration.
Does domain availability mean a name is legally available?
+
No. An available domain only means no one has registered it for that exact label. The same label can still be a registered trademark, a protected company name, or a famous mark in your market. Run an independent trademark search and consult a qualified professional before you commit.
What should I do if the domain is taken?
+
Use nameaha's alternative flow to generate direction-aware candidates from your original seed. Then re-check the gate TLDs for each candidate. If the original name is famous enough to be worth acquiring, contact the current registrant through the registrar's WHOIS-listed contact — but expect to pay a premium, and verify the legal status independently.
Can nameaha verify every social platform?
+
Not yet. nameaha does not currently perform live cross-platform username checks. Platforms change availability rules, reserve names for inactive users, hide profile visibility, and block automated lookups, so any external check is a snapshot at best. Verify the platforms you plan to use directly.
Run the check on a name you're considering.
Manual domain checks are always free. Credits are only used for AI-generated alternatives when both .com and .net are available.

Plan handles for the platforms you actually use
Decide which platforms matter to your launch (e.g. GitHub, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram). Verify availability directly on each platform. nameaha does not run live cross-platform checks yet — see the caveat in the next section.
